Description
Elizabeth Wright Plimpton was a member of the Radcliffe College Class of 1929. Her scrapbook contains clippings, course schedules, and exams documenting her junior and senior years at Radcliffe College. In particular, the scrapbook documents academic difficulties in her French and English classes, including grades and letters from professors. In addition, the scrapbook contains other printed material such student handbooks (the “Red Book”) and library handbooks for 1927 and 1928, registration materials, and bills and receipts. Plimpton was involved in athletics at Radcliffe and was a member of the field hockey team; several clippings are about sports at Radcliffe and the Boston area. She also took part in a “Life Saving” swim course during her junior year. In addition, the scrapbook contains notes from fellow students, as well as invitations and programs, including traditional Radcliffe events such as Class Day, the Baccalaureate, and Commencement. Plimpton annotated many of the items in the scrapbook with explanatory notes.
