Description
A view of the maypole dancing on Merion Green at May Day 1928. Around the central pole, six rings of dancers join hands in broadening concentric circles. Other stray figures wander the green, and hundreds of spectators watch the dance from the edges of the grass. Two other maypoles are visible to the side with their strands hanging slack at their bases. Visible in the background is Radnor Hall. May Day celebrates spring and honors parting seniors featuring parades, theater, and maypole dancing.
