Description
Two students in costume on Merion green, with Merion Hall visible in the background. One student is wrapped in a dark cloth and wears a scruffy wig with a beard and moustache attached in one hand she raises a hatchet or a mallet. The other student wears a hooded costume and sits astride a saddled donkey, carrying a large basket overflowing with cloth. Back of the photograph is inscribed "Big May Day." May Day celebrates spring and honors parting seniors featuring parades, theater, and maypole dancing. Big May Day occurs once every four years and is marked by even more extravagant celebrations.
